Gastrointestinal diseases are one of the most significant health concerns in Hong Kong which can affect any section of the gastrointestinal tract from the oesophagus to the anus and various organs as liver, gallbladder, and pancreas. The city’s hectic lifestyle, high-stress environment, and unhealthy eating habits have contributed to a rise in different digestive diseases and thus created medical and economic burdens to the society. Besides encouragement to maintain good hygiene and adopt a healthy lifestyle, prevention and early treatment are substantial due to high variability of gastrointestinal diseases with corresponding discomforts. This seminar will focus on the prevention and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases based on both Western and Chinese medicine perspectives.
