During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hong Kong quickly became a hub for quality COVID-19 vaccine research. Using big data of territory-wide electronic medical records from the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong, our research team has investigated the effectiveness and safety of two COVID-19 vaccines, namely Biontech and Sinovac vaccines. In this talk, the speakers will introduce the basic concepts behind big data research and the study designs for conducting big data research, present the completed and ongoing research on the safety of COVID-19 vaccines, and explain how big data research can contribute to healthcare development in Hong Kong.
