HKU Astronomical Observatory Open HousePhoto
Our department has an observatory on the rooftop of our building. It houses a 16-inch reflecting telescope, and some smaller ones. We use them in our astronomy courses to teach and train students basic techniques. In this programme, we will introduce the observatory, and use the main telescope to observe the Moon, Mars and other celestial objects (subject to weather conditions). Participants could have a taste of observational astronomy.
