25C033   Renewable Energy at San Tin Stormwater Pumping Station and Yuen Long Bypass Floodway Eco Tour



Yuen Long Bypass Floodway is a 3.8km long large drainage channel built at the south of Yuen Long Town. The Bypass Floodway has incorporated a series of environmental designs to provide a natural riverbank with aesthetic and ecological value. A system of dry weather flow pumping station and inflatable dam is provided at the downstream end. Apart from visiting the Bypass Floodway, introduction of Village Flood Protection Scheme, the operation of San Tin Stormwater Pumping Station, and Floating Photovoltaic System set up in San Tin Stormwater Storage Pond will be included in the guided tour.

The guided tour allows public to gain a deeper understanding of river ecology and biodiversity in Hong Kong through observing elements of preservation of ecosystems in rivers incorporated into DSD's flood prevention works.
