About us

HK SciFest, organised by the Hong Kong Science Museum since 2014, is one of the largest popular science events in Hong Kong. This festival brings together a diverse community of science and technology organisations, educational institutions, schools, universities, museums, and government departments. Through a wide range of engaging science programmes, HK SciFest offers a unique platform for people of all ages to explore the wonders of science. The festival aims to inspire curiosity, discovery, and appreciation for the scientific world. Our goal is to ignite a passion for scientific inquiry among the public, fostering a culture of exploration and innovation that will shape the future of scientific pursuits.

HK SciFest 2025

HK SciFest 2025 will take place from 18 April to 27 April 2025 under the theme "Local Contributions in Science."

Though Hong Kong may be small in size, some of its scientific research and innovations have made significant global impacts! From the groundbreaking invention of optical fibre, which has revolutionised information transmission by dramatically increasing internet speeds and accelerating the development of the digital world, to the remarkable achievement of non-invasive prenatal testing, a medical breakthrough that has enhanced the accuracy and safety of diagnosing foetal genetic disorders such as Down syndrome. Hong Kong scientists have consistently pushed the boundaries of science and technology. These extraordinary achievements have improved lives worldwide.

To let the public learn more about these advancements, HK SciFest 2025 will showcase the research projects, achievements, and popular science education initiatives of local scientists, institutions, and organisations. In collaboration with over 50 partners, we are proud to present more than 100 exciting science programmes, including science workshops, lectures, seminars, film screenings, and site visits. In addition, the G/F Exhibition Hall of the Science Museum will be transformed into a "Science Bazaar", featuring activity booths with hands-on science demonstrations and mini-exhibitions. This is a highlight event you won’t want to miss!

Through these activities at the Hong Kong Science Museum and across the city, we hope to inspire everyone to develop interests in science, appreciate the incredible contributions made by local scientists, institutions and organisations in scientific research, innovation and science promotion, and ultimately cultivate a love for science. Join us for a remarkable experience as we explore and discover local contributions in science!
