18E067   Growing Baby Corals – A Long-term Commitment to Hong Kong Coral Conservation

What do you know about corals? What are the consequences if we do not conserve corals? Coral reefs around the world are rapidly deteriorating due to both local and global pressures. The 84 species of hard corals found in Hong Kong are also facing threats brought about by our urban development. In this lecture, we explore the potential roles of Hong Kong corals in future under projected climate changes, and introduce how the research team in The Chinese University of Hong Kong has raised and out-planted laboratory-reared baby corals to assist in the Hong Kong coral community restoration.
